Featured projects completed in college to acquire my Geography degree.

Delta Ponds Research Project

Winter 2017

Studied a public park's geographic origin and evolution, explaining how law played a role in land use decisions on the local, state, and federal level. Required looking up laws in the ORS (Oregon Revised Statutes), finding connections between physical and urban geography, and peer collaboration, culminating into an on-site presentation and essay.

Fall 2016

Formed a research question to critically think about how climate change affects alpine glaciers by considering regional differences, historical patterns, scientific processes, and their consequences, incorporating web maps and Google Earth aerial imagery. Vegetation Change Map (ArcMap)

Fall 2016

Created a vegetation distribution map using ArcGIS that involved learning new computer skills. Imported shapefiles from multiple databases, researched tutorials to learn new commands, formed queries to filter geospatial data, and edited tables in Excel to organize the data.

Mt. Robson Research Project

Fall 2016

Researched the geology, biology and culture of a specific mountain region to provide analysis on the current environmental issues it is facing. Synthesized the essay to create a poster which was presented to the class.

Pervasive Patterns Photo Project

Fall 2012

Traversed on foot through multiple neighborhoods and parks to take photos of a defining landscape pattern: needleaf trees. Used landscape architecture perspectives to understand why trees were located in certain places. Discussed relative observations and experiences to analyze the cultural significance.
